About

BLOMBOS
LANDSCAPING

The name of the company and how it incubuses how I view a garden to unfold itself and it potential seemed fitting. As the first part of the word "blom-" meaning flower, symbolizes the soft, feminine, colorful and divine part of a plant and of gardens, combined with the second part of the word "-bos", meaning bush, referring to the more rough, wild, natural and untamed part of plants and how these two elements can make a synergistic feel to a complete garden. My perspective of how to run this Blombos landscaping is by making use of only exceptional quality plants and materials needed to make a garden looking like the plants just naturally sprouted grew in the garden. That the long-term results of how the garden was planned out and execute will become its own advertisement as to why to make use of Blomboslandscaping. Blombos is the common Afrikaans name for the Metalasia muricata plant. The direct translation is flowerbush. Metalasia comes from the Greek words "meta" meaning backwords and reversed as seen on the leaves composition, and "lasios" meaning woolly, also referring to the leaves underside that is covered in fine silky hairs, giving the leaves beautiful contrasting colours. The word "muricata" comes from the word murex, meaning roughened and with sharp points. The blombos plant is very abundant in the costal areas of the Cape, forming a cornerstone of this area's floral biome. It is also found in other areas of the Western Cape and is spread out over certain areas of South Africa. Blombos flowers in winter, turning the green shrub almost completely white with its honey scented flowers, although it can also be found in pink and purple..... (Website in progress)

Services

My goal is to make your garden as lush and interesting as possible. The first step to achieving this is proper soil preparation according to the plants that are being used. The next component is to install an irrigation system that is suited for the garden so the garden can thrive no matter the weather conditions.

Irrigation

Having a well-planned out irrigation system is an important component for most gardens to thrive to their full potential and in some cases, depending on the plants water needs, it is crucial for its survival, thus saving you time, money and the hassle of replacing dead plants.

Garden Renovation

Your garden might already contain a few established plants that are doing well, but the rest of the garden perhaps isn't looking its best. In this case a complete landscaping job might not be necessary and only  some revamping and alteration can brighten up your garden and put it in tip top shape.

Hardscaping

This is a really important component to building the basis of or to round off any garden. From borders, pathways and firepits, to rocks, trellis panels and much more. This will really make your garden stand out from the rest and make it look and feel complete.

Organic Food Gardens

In recent years people have come to realise just how important and gratifying it is to grow some of your own food. I have had first hand experience working at Babylonstoren with all the different fruits, vegetables and herbs the garden produced.
